Think of us as underground overachievers
Soft-dig 101
Soft-dig technology is a method used to excavate soil without causing damage to underground pipes, cables or other utilities. It's increasingly popular in construction, utilities maintenance and other industries where underground infrastructure needs to be accessed efficiently.
How it works
At Vermeer, we make hydro-excavation equipment that uses a high-pressure water jet to break up soil, while a vacuum system simultaneously removes the loosened material. This prevents the need for more brute force, manual or mechanical digging and helps reduce the risk of damaging underground utilities.
An underground utility construction game-changer
Minimizes damage
Gently excavating soil helps reduce the risk of damaging underground power lines, water pipes or cables.
Precision
Where accuracy is crucial, soft-dig technology enables precise excavation around sensitive infrastructure.
Tidier jobsites
Vacuum excavation techniques leave a much softer environmental impact, compared to traditional digging methods.
The Vermeer story
What began as a one-man job shop started by Gary Vermeer on a farm in central Iowa in 1948 is now a globally-recognized industrial and agricultural equipment powerhouse.
Equipment
Today, in addition to trenchless technology equipment, Vermeer manufacturers a wide range of agricultural and industrial equipment from facilities around the globe.
