504 R-series balers

Ready to roll out consistent, square-shouldered 5-ft x 4-ft (1.5-m x 1.2-m) bales? Vermeer 504 R-series balers rise to the challenges of hay season, with their robust construction, technology and baling performance. Designed for the varying needs of hay producers across North America — from part-time farmers and ranchers to custom operators — the 504 R-series lineup brings simplicity, durability and ease of use to hay and forage fields.

With three models to choose from — Classic, Signature and Premium — you have the power to pick the baler that is right for your hay operation and production goals. Of course, there are common traits across the entire lineup, including heavy-duty frames and high-quality components that are engineered to withstand the daily rigors of the hay season. Plus, these balers are designed with longevity in mind, with easy-access maintenance points to simplify your routine.

Let's walk and talk about the 504 R-series lineup

Follow along as Sales Training Specialist Ed Henning gives you a closer look at the 504 R-series lineup, including the key features and benefits that separate the three models.

Camless pickup

Built with fewer moving parts, it’s designed to maximize hay production and minimize parts cost when it is time for routine maintenance.

Icon

3-year pickup warranty coverage

Covers internal components and parts and labor on the baler. Does not include teeth or hardware for teeth.

Atlas™ control system (Available on Classic baler only)

A 4.3-in (10.9-cm) color touchscreen allows operators to enter field statistics to track bales per hour and average bale size. Optional features allow for bale shape and real-time moisture readings.

Icon

Atlas Pro™ control system (Available on Signature and Premium balers only)

Control the bale from the cab – including shape, density and net tension. Monitor real-time stats for up to 50 fields, like bale weight, bale count and moisture levels on a 7-in (17.8-cm) screen.

504R Classic

  1. Low recommended PTO of 50 hp (37.3 kW) provides options for various tractors.
  2. Manage and track baling performance on the AtlasTM control system with 4.3-in (10.9-cm) color touch screen.
  3. The 60-in (152.4-cm) 4-bar camless wide pickup maximizes material intake and helps minimize costs with few moving parts.
  4. Durable chains and heavy-duty components on the inside of this baler, including strong driveshafts, make it built to last.
  5. An optional netwrap system makes net efficient to feed and operate.
  6. The windguard roller helps smooth out the crop before it enters the pickup, and the rotor helps force the crop into the back of the chamber for bale formation.

504R Signature

  1. A 5-bar camless wide pickup is equipped with steel coil teeth for baling tough or heavy crops and features few moving parts to help minimize maintenance and prolong the life of the machine.
  2. The three main drive chains are made with 80 diamond chains to help minimize chain maintenance.
  3. An aggressive rotor helps to create positive bale starts while the auger and feeding system force crop into the chamber and onto the rotating belts for optimal bale formation.
  4. Moisture sensors deliver real-time and field-average moisture info via the Atlas Pro™ control system.

504R Premium

  1. The 60-in (152.4-cm) 5-bar camless wide pickup includes a steel windguard roller that smooths out the windrow, so the hay enters the baler efficiently and is forced back to the chamber by an aggressive rotor.
  2. The Atlas Pro™ control system helps operators control bale formation — including shape, density and net tension — and monitor real-time stats for up to 50 fields.
  3. Standard grease banks make it convenient for operators to perform routine maintenance on the baler to help prolong machine life.
  4. An optional Auto Lube greasing system provides automatic lubrication to critical bearings at user-defined intervals set through the Atlas Pro™ control system.
  5. Optimal pickup speed and a fast tie cycle help you quickly produce 5-ft x 4-ft (1.5-m x 1.2-m) bales.
  6. A silage kit with heavy-duty components comes standard to help you put up wet and heavy hay.
  7. The optional flotation tires offer a smooth ride on rough terrain, stability on hills and reduces the amount of stress on the baler.

“The first time we tried a Vermeer, we broke down with the baler we were using at the time. Zack Marchant [Vermeer dealer] brought the Vermeer one out. He showed us how to run it, hooked it up and we went to baling hay. I don’t even think I let him take it back to town. I think I kept it,” said George Boyd of his first Vermeer 504R Premium baler. Since the day Marchant brought that 504R Premium to Boyd’s farm about four years ago, Boyd has purchased two more."
