COVID-19 has changed the way we do business, how we spend our free time and everything in between. A long-standing summer tradition at Vermeer has been giving team members and their families tickets to local activities. While options ranged from year to year, they included events or activities such as the Iowa State Fair, Adventureland, the Iowa Cubs or the Knoxville Raceway. With large events and gatherings just not possible this year, Vermeer had to get creative.
It’s clear that smaller businesses are at risk and families spending so much time together at home can be stressful. People are our greatest asset at Vermeer. We took this ;opportunity to find a better way to serve our team, give our team members the option to give back and help our community.
This year’s Family Fun program gave team members in Pella new options. They could choose food packages from local vendors such as Hy-Vee, Cranberry Stone or #DutchFix for a family night at home. Or they could donate to local charities such as the Animal Rescue League, the Food Bank of Iowa, The Well Resource Center or Crossroads of Pella. Thanks to the generosity of our team members, nearly $20,000 is going directly to charities that matter to them. We are proud of our team and their spirit to give back and support those around them. In addition, Vermeer would like to say thank you to our local businesses for working together to create experiences our team can enjoy this summer. We are proud to be part of a vibrant community that comes together and takes on the challenge of living and working in new ways.
