Clearing the way for 30 years

Innovators in waste processing

From the 1994 launch of the TG400 tub grinder to our newest offering, the LS3600TX low speed shredder, Vermeer has created rugged and reliable solutions for processing waste.

30 years of grinding

1994

First grinder

Vermeer introduces the TG400, a tub grinder equipped with 400 hp (298 kW). It was the first high-speed grinder manufactured by Vermeer.

1997

Safety

Product engineers at Vermeer develop a vital safety feature for tub grinders — the Thrown Object Restraint System (TORS). This system, still on all Vermeer grinders today, reduces the quantity and distance of thrown debris.

2000

Duplex drum

Vermeer replaces the pin-and-plate mechanism found in early machines with its patented Series 1 duplex drum design. This Vermeer innovation utilizes a through-hammer design. The latest Vermeer grinders feature a Series 3 duplex drum.

2002

First horizontal grinder

The company launches its first horizontal grinder, the HG525 horizontal grinder, after only 90 days of product development. It offers operators the ability to process waste in tighter spaces and provides additional control over the finished product.

2003

Recycling and Forestry support

Given that grinding is highly specialized work, Vermeer forms its Recycling and Forestry dealer specialist group to provide prompt support. Available at any time, our specialists continue to serve as business partners to those in waste processing.

2005

TG7000 launches

A powerful tub grinder, the TG7000 offers solutions for large land-clearing projects and wood waste recycling operations. Due to its success, the TG7000 is still produced today almost identically to that original version nearly two decades ago.

2013

Global popularity

The release of the HG4000 horizontal grinder a year earlier helps Vermeer become a prominent player in the European market by 2013. Vermeer would later launch additional machines with European configurations, including the HG6000.

2017

HG6800TX unveiled

A high-horsepower machine in a compact design, the HG6800TX horizontal grinder is equipped with the Series III duplex drum and can be operated with a remote control.

2017

Damage Defense system

Vermeer innovates this system to help prevent certain metal contaminants from damaging grinders. If the mill encounters metal while grinding, the Damage Defense system alerts the grinder control and automatically initiates the shutdown process.

2024

Meet the LS3600TX

The first low speed shredder from Vermeer, the LS3600TX provides unprecedented ease of maintenance for operators. The LS3600TX comes with industry innovations — like a fully mechanical driveline to maximize horsepower transfer to the rotor.
